Privacy Policy

Select-A-Tech ("Select-A-Tech," "we," "us," or "our") operates a marketplace that connects customers with local service businesses and technicians. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account as a customer, business, or technician, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and password.
Service and booking information. When you book, offer, or complete a service, we collect details such as the service address, ZIP code, appointment times, service category, and any notes or messages exchanged between customers and businesses.
Payment information. Payments are processed by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers — Stripe handles and stores that data directly, and we only retain the metadata Stripe returns to us (such as a payment status or subscription ID).
Location information. We use ZIP codes and, where you grant permission, approximate device location to show you nearby businesses and technicians and to power search and coupon targeting.
Usage information. We automatically collect information about how you use the platform, such as pages viewed, searches performed, and device/browser information, to keep the service secure and to improve it.
Communications. If you contact support or leave a review, we keep a record of that correspondence.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- create and maintain your account and authenticate you when you sign in;
- connect customers with businesses and technicians and facilitate bookings;
- process payments and subscriptions through Stripe;
- send transactional notifications by email and SMS (for example, booking confirmations, reminders, and status updates);
- power search, coupons, and reviews;
- detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
- comply with legal obligations.
How we share your information
We share information as needed to operate the marketplace:
- Between customers and businesses/technicians — when you book a service, the business or technician assigned to that booking can see the information needed to perform the service (name, contact details, service address, and booking notes).
- Service providers — we share information with vendors who process it on our behalf, including Stripe (payments), our email and SMS providers (transactional notifications), and our cloud hosting and storage providers.
- Legal and safety — we may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Select-A-Tech, our users, or the public.
We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the platform is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may limit some features, such as staying signed in.
Data retention
We retain account and booking information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and comply with our legal and accounting obligations. You may request deletion of your account as described below.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. You can also update most account information directly from your account settings, and opt out of non-essential email and SMS notifications from your notification preferences.
Children's privacy
Select-A-Tech is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date on this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
